BM:What’s good? I’m Bless McFly, here with super producer extradinaire holding it down straight from Houston, Texas.. Cory Mo.

Whats good with you homie?

CM:Whats up wit ya mayne? Thanks for having me.

BM: Oh yea, no doubt. Let’s go ahead and get right into it. How long have you been producing?

CM: I been on the production end since 1999. That’s when I bought my first MPC, and really it was no turning back from then to be real with you.

BM: What made you want to become a producer?

CM: Believe it or not man I rap also. I started out as a rapper and it was hard to get beats from local producers, because of the prices they were charging for them. They weren’t a lot of producers in the area and the ones that were around didn’t have affordable beats. So like I said, I bought an MPC and started making my own beats. So actually, I started out making beats for myself and then for other artist out in Texas that started coming through to record at my studio.

BM: Ok, thats whats up. So do you have any plans in your future to put out an album as an MC:

CM: Yeah, I definitely plan on putting out an album in the future. Not really rushing it right now though because I want to make sure that everything is done right. As far as with the marketing and promoting and things like that. I already have alot of songs done and I feel like they’re so good that I don’t want to just put an album out and just have it out there. You know, gotta make sure the budget is right to make sure its done properly and gets the proper exposure.

BM: Have you had the opportunity to collab with any artist, as far as with your rapping?

CM: Oh yeah, I’ve been featured on some major projects and worked with some major cats. I’ve featured on Devin the Dudes first “To the Extreme”, Pimp C’s first solo album and his Pimpilation album. I’ve featured on alot of stuff out in Texas, but most people outside of Texas just know me as a producer.

BM: I know you did 4 tracks on UGK’s latest album, Underground Kings 4 Life.. What other major artist have you produced for?

CM: Everybody out in Texas, as far as Houston is concerned. Paul Wall, Mike Jones, Slim Thug, Chamillionare, Devin the Dude, Z Ro, UGK of course. I’ve also produced for David Banner, Killa Mike, Mistah Fab, Mya, Talib Kweli. That’s my boy right there.

BM: I read that you recently expanded your studio, MAD Studios to Atlanta..How is that working out for you??

CM: It’s working out real well for me right now. It’s going great. I’m actually in Atlanta right now. Just taking it one day at a time. You know, just like any new business starting up it’s going to be a little slow, but slowly but surely it’s gonna get there. GLC, Kanye West’s artist, was just through here the other night. I got him, David Banner, Killer Mike, and a few other people just spreading the word that I’m down here now. So things are looking real good man.

BM: Are there any artist that you haven’t worked with yet that you would like to work with?

CM: Shit, I want to work with everybody man. You know..but really I would love to work with the Dr. I want to sit in a session with him and just watch how he does his thing. I always looked up to him cuz he a cold dude. Yea.. I would just sit in a session and be a fly on the wall. LOL. He knows how to make those joints that knock in the club man. He just got that solid ear.

BM: Are there any other producers whose style you dig? Whether known producers or maybe some from your hood that haven’t been able to make it big yet?

CM: Of course Kanye. He always takes it to the next level and he’s definitely an inspiration. Pimp C.. Alot of people don’t know but Pimp produced also. I always like to go back and peep game, just to keep me grounded and home based. Also, a kid out of Texas named Piro. I definitely want to shout him out. The dude is super jammin’.. Real cold dude with the beats. He actually gave me a beat that will be on my album. I don’t want to produce my whole album. Mike B, my boy Rick..There’s alot of cats out in Texas that’s doing their thing, but just don’t get the proper shine. I’m here to change all that though and help put them on the map.

BM: When making your beats, where do you get your inspiration from?

CM: It’s kind of weird man. It really all depends on my mood. If I smoked some reggie for the day or some kush, it really all depends. LOL. I might start with the drums sometimes, other times I might start with the hi-hats. I don’t know man. I don’t really have a formula that I follow when making beats. If I’m just going off the fly, then I just dive right in and do what I do. One hour I might make a pop track and the next I might make a southern sounding UGK song. But if somebody requests a certain sound, then I do that too. So it’s really hard to say.

BM: What can we expect from Cory Mo in the future?

CM: Of course the solo record and alot more production. I’m trying to start getting into the Pop and R&B lanes because I want to make music that lasts. I’m going to always make them beats that rattle the trunk, but I also want to hit those charts. I’m thinking about taking some guitar lessons really soon also. Just bigger and better things.

BM: Do you have any last words or shout-outs?

CM: Big shouts to Bun-B for all the love he shows me. He had a big hand in saying what was going to make it on the last project. Also shout out to my brother Mike Mo. Last, but definitely not least.. LONG LIVE THE PIMP. (R.I.P PIMP C).
